the beginning

This is a picture of the very first time Walter and I met. He was scheduled to present his films at the "Voice of the Wetlands" festival, and I was there to see them and 'meet the filmmaker'. In the picture I'm probably talking a mile-a-minute telling him about the projects I was working on at the time, and about how I had just moved to his hometown (New Orleans). The next night I was at the Saturn Bar in New Orleans...dancing away at the Mod Dance Party when in walked Walter. We were both very surprised to see each other again...especially at an obsure bar in the 9th ward in the middle of the night. That night we talked until the bar closed and then shared a cab back to our respective parts of town (since my friend/ride had left me at the bar). That was three years ago today.

play for all

crystal connector discs on light table

West and Dada

dough-dough, colored gel in plastic bag
A test-video of the colored gels on our light table, I plan to use this method to create projections/stage visuals for upcoming shows.

Lately I've been thinking about how our playtime and play materials are mutually beneficial. Sensory-play activities are an inexpensive way for both of us to explore color, texture, shape and form while enjoying our time together.
